The Cedartown City Commission issued a proclamation at their meeting last night [Aug. 10], honoring the Cedartown Recreation Department 10 & Under Girls Softball Team.

Below is a copy of that proclamation. Way to go, girls!!

WHEREAS, The Cedartown Recreation Department 10 & Under Girls Softball Dizzy Dean Team went undefeated through District and State; and

WHEREAS, these girls went on a journey to South Haven, Mississippi to the 10 & Under Dizzy Dean World Series; and

WHEREAS, the team displayed athletic talent and sportsmanship along with their coaches; and

WHEREAS, the Cedartown Recreation Department 10 & Under Girls Softball Dizzy Dean Team went 3-2 to place third in the Dizzy Dean World Series; and

WHEREAS, the Cedartown City Commission and the Cedartown Recreation Department are proud of these young ladies and coaches for their hard work and dedication to their team.

NOW, THEREFORE, The Cedartown City Commission does hereby recognize the following team players and coaches of the 2015 Cedartown Recreation Department 10 & Under Girls Softball Dizzy Dean Team.

Emily Bedford, Ivari Boozer, Valaceia Burrus, McKensy Carr, Reagan Clarke, Amelia Elrod, Makayla Jordan, Kaylee Nikolopoulus, Kadince Oxenreider, Abby Reynolds, Alana Brannon Weese, Taylor Westmoreland, Manager Brian Atkins, Coach Robert Clarke, Coach Steven Nikolopoulus and Coach Mike Rutledge.

The Cedartown City Commission further extends their recognition to the following team players.

Reagan Clarke voted the most valuable player of the state tournament.

Reagan Clarke, Kaylee Nikolopoulus and Kadince Oxenreider were voted to the All American Team following the World Series Tournament.
