Cedartown, Ga. – February 4, 2016: The Cedartown Police Department welcomed the addition of a new officer to the force.
Tyler Eason, a 2013 graduate of Cedartown High School, was sworn into his duties in February. Eason will now enter into an 11-week officer training at the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy in Austell.
“We had a lot of interest in that job opening,” said Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome. “We interviewed several worthy candidates and Mr. Eason was selected unanimously by the interview panel as the best fit for our Cedartown family. We are very excited that he is joining our team.”
In order to be considered as a candidate for employment, officers must first stringent testing, including an in-depth background check, a polygraph test, physical exam, psychological exam and drug screen.
The mission of the Cedartown Police Department is to ensure the safe keeping and protection of human life and to assist individuals who are in danger of physical harm. The department also provides surveillance protection of all private business and public properties within the jurisdiction of the City of Cedartown. Officers with the CPD direct and participate in public well-being and safety efforts when the jurisdiction is threatened by or is under influence of disasters of nature or disasters of man.
